JUMIA Egypt Overseas Warehouse: Local Store Registration, Taxation, and Payment Collection Guide
Introduction
According to Egyptian compliance requirements, all stores (including new onboarding and transfers from the international platform) must operate using a local Egyptian company entity. Sales proceeds will be directly settled into the bank account of this local company.
This guide aims to help sellers understand the required documents, registration process, and tax compliance procedures for opening a local store. Sellers are responsible for preparing the relevant documents themselves; for assistance, please contact payment service provider HKF for assistance.

2.2 Store Naming Guidelines
To comply with international operation and site differentiation requirements, all newly registered store names must end with “-EG-COD” (e.g., SuperStore-EG-COD).
3. Value Added Tax (VAT) and Invoicing Guidelines
3.1 Tax Information
The standard VAT rate in Egypt is 14%.
- Self-registered entity: Sellers are responsible for their own tax declaration and invoicing costs.
- Through HKF collaboration: Please consult with HKF to confirm whether VAT and invoice issuance services are included in their service fee.
3.2 Invoice Issuance Requirements
When a customer requests a tax invoice (common for high-value orders such as mobile phones, televisions, and home appliances), the seller must comply.
| Process Step | Detailed Actions |
| Trigger Scenario | Customer contacts Jumia Customer Service ➡️ Jumia informs the seller or partner HKF |
| Invoice Issuance | VAT invoice issued by a licensed local company on the Egyptian tax website |
| Invoice Content | Invoice description can be in any language; the system uses international commodity codes. Custom information can be added to the invoice, such as store name, store ID, order number, order date, etc. (order amount is mandatory) |
| Document Flow | Local entity forwards the invoice (electronic copy) to the seller and Jumia ➡️ Jumia Customer Service provides it to the customer |
| Seller Responsibilities | Must be completed within 3 working days, and the electronic copy must be retained by the seller (this process does not go through the Seller Center) |
4. Payment Collection and Annual Compliance
4.1 Payment Collection Mechanism
- Settlement Method: Payment in local currency (EGP) via bank transfer.
- Account Requirements: Must be a corporate account linked to the local company where the store is located.
- Payment Cycle: Settlement once a week.
- Commission VAT: Jumia platform commissions already cover 14% VAT.
4.2 Annual Compliance Verification
- Tax Clearance Certificate: The company associated with the payment account must provide an annual tax clearance certificate at least once a year to prove its tax status has been verified by the tax authorities.
- Obtaining Method: Issued by the local tax authority. It is recommended to contact a local accounting service provider or HKF for assistance to ensure timely submission, so as not to affect the store’s compliance status.
